Results – Day 3 – u13 Craven Week 2022

By Hannes Nienaber , in News , at 30 June 2022

The Golden Lions kept their unbeaten record intact on the penultimate day of the annual u13 Craven Week in Krugersdorp with an impressive victory of 32-27 over Western Province.

Their Nr. 8, Ruan Bester, was superb in defence and with the ball in hand. He was supported well by his captain and tighthead prop, Llewellyn Lourens, as well as lock Hanko van Geelen.

This was only Western Province’s second defeat since 2013. The losing side’s outside centre, Xavier Cleophas, as well as the flanker Samuel Cross, could feel happy with their performances.

For the Lions their fullback, Ruan Mulder, scored an excellent try. Mulder is the son of former Springbok centre, Japie Mulder, who was part of the World Cup-winning team of 1995. The Lions’ flyhalf, Ethan Kruger, is the son of former Lions, Sharks, and Griquas flyhalf, Herkie Kruger.
