King Edward VII Easter Festival fixtures for 2014

Written by Hannes Nienaber

The King Edward VII of Johannesburg has attracted some new schools for the 2014 edition of their Standard Bank Easter Festival. Grey Boys’ High School of Port Elizabeth, Queen’s College of Queenstown and Rondebosch Boys’ High of Cape Town are three of the new teams that will be on display next year.

Grey PE will play in the main match of the first day against Menlopark of Pretoria. The second match day has quite a few games lined up that could be thrillers. The match between Marlow Landbou of Cradock and Grey PE is always a cracker. The hosts will take on Queen’s College in the main match of the second day in another encounter which promises to excite.

Rondebosch Boys’ High had a good season this year. KES as well as Grey PE will be in action at the Wildeklawer tournament in Kimberley as well. It will be the first time that King Edward VII attends this prestigious tournament. It will be the boys from Port Elizabeth’s second attendance.

On the third day the opening match between the Standard Bank Invitational side, which will once again be Hentie Cilliers from Virginia, will take on Queen’s College. This match promises to produce some scintillating attacking rugby as both teams like to move the ball around. KES will lock horns with Northwood in the final match of the Standard Bank Easter Festival.

Garsfontein of Pretoria who overpowered all of its opponents at last year’s Standard Bank Easter Festival won’t be attending as well as Centurion. The Lions Invitational XV who lost all their matches with huge margins also will miss out on next year’s festival.
