Nico le Roux is of South African descent and emigrated to NZ in 2001. In South Africa, le Roux was with the Lions (Ellis Park based team) where he established the Academy and managed it for a period of time. Whilst he was working with the Lions le Roux also oversaw the fitness and did some technical work for the Cats Super 14 franchise who made the Semi Finals in 2000.

In 2001 le Roux joined the New Zealand Super 14 franchise the Chiefs and was technical advisor for them and also to Waikato for 3 years. Nico has had stints with All Blacks in the same capacity as well as with Junior All Blacks as Analyst. During some of these NPC/Air New Zealand Cup and Super campaigns I have been Skills Coach and have also been Defence Coach for a Super 12 campaign. Nico le Roux joined QBE Insurance North Harbour in 2006 with winning the Ranfurly Shield being a highlight. Nico as Analyst for Blues during the 2007 Super 14.
