Western Province bagged their sixth successive Craven Week title

NewsGWP13 School of Rugby | News - School of RugbyWestern Province was crowned unofficial champions of the Coca-Cola u13 Craven Week for a record sixth successive year at the annual tournament at Diamantveld in Kimberley.

WP defeated their neighbours, Boland, with 8-5 in a closely contested main match. The halftime score-line of 0-all emphasises the fact that there was not a lot too choose between the two sides.  

The team from Cape Town’s last defeat at the tournament was back in 2012 against the Bulls in the main game. The side from Pretoria won that match by 19-8.

Of their last 39 matches Western Province played at the Coca-Cola Craven Week they’ve only finished on the losing side in three of the matches. The other two defeats were also in the main matches against the Eastern...

Horn to lead Western Province u19 at Newlands

Boishaai School of Rugby | News - School of RugbyLoose forward Francke Horn will lead DHL Western Province U19 in their encounter with the Vodacom Blue Bulls U19 at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

The match, which kicks off at 14h40 on Saturday, will be played as a curtain-raiser before the Vodacom Super Rugby encounter between the DHL Stormers and the Cell C Sharks.

It will be the opening match of the season for DHL Western Province U19, with Horn leading the team from the back of the scrum at No.8.

They have been crowned unofficial champions at the last four editions of this prestigious tournament. The Craven Week for Primary Schools was first held in Potchefstroom in 1972.

Van Zyl to lead Blue Bulls u19 in season opener

BlouBulle School of Rugby | News - School of RugbyJoe van Zyl will captain the Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 team on Saturday when they take on DHL Western Province in their opening match of the SA Rugby Provincial Under-19 championship in Cape Town.
